Land of Lincoln Bass Fishing
Anglers with disabilities land tournament limits in Illinois bass event.
Doug Moore won the Open Competition during the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Land of Lincoln Bass Tournament, held May 19–20 on Rend Lake in Illinois.
Running out of Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park near Whittington, Ill., Moore (Van Buren, Ark.) landed a tournament limit of five bass weighing 14.48 pounds. Fishing with Monty Wilson (Bonnie, Ill.), he also caught the tournament lunker, a 6.20-pounder.

The National PVA "Land of Lincoln" Bass Tournament drew disabled anglers to Rend Lake, Mount Vernon, Ill.
“In the Open Competition, a disabled angler joins with an able-bodied volunteer boater,” explaines Alan Earl, PVA associate director of sports and recreation. “The boater drives the boat and may assist the disabled angler, but does not actually fish. In the Team Competition, both anglers fish as a team.”
In second, Jack Barber (West, Texas) teamed with Jacob Moore (Van Buren, Ark.) to land five bass weighing 13.50 pounds. Taking third, Tony Choe (Fairfax Station, Va.) joined Noel Dillard of Kentucky to catch five bass going 11.04 pounds.
In the Team Competition, Rodney Anderson (Young Harris, Ga.) and Richard Clancy (Johnston City, Ill.) caught five bass weighing 13.92 pounds.
Ron Ryals (Live Oak, Fla.) and James Schubert (Mount Vernon, Ill.) combined for five bass weighing 13.82 pounds. Choe and Dillard teamed again for third place with 13.47 pounds.
In the bank tournament, two disabled anglers fish together as a team one day and as individuals the next.
In the Bank Individual Competition, Ken DaVault (Silver Spring, Md.) won with 5.22 pounds. He also landed the day’s lunker, a 2.94-pound fish.
Gary Holland (Oklahoma City) took second with 4.10 pounds, followed by Terry Bowers (Rochelle, Ill.) with 1.68.
