Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) are recruiting participants for a study on negative health spirals after traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) funded by the Department of Defense. Negative health spirals occur when individuals have more than one health problem where one condition leads to another and where it is difficult to regain the previous level of health and independence.

Study participation involves a brief telephone pre-screening to determine eligibility, a health history (telephone), an individual health interview (telephone), and an in-person or virtual online focus group.

If you have a SCI and have had significant trouble with multiple health complications within the past two years, please call or e-mail Kristian Manley at 843-792-3564manleyk@musc.edu to learn more about the study and see if you are eligible.

If you are eligible, a family member, caregiver, friend, or another person who is aware of your SCI needs and health issues may also be eligible to participate. However, you do not need to have another person named to be eligible.

Compensation for participation may be provided for those who are eligible for the study.
